About Highland Park Guitar Lessons
About Your Teacher
I’m Adam Frost, founder and lead instructor of Highland Park Guitar Lessons in Dallas, Texas. I have over 22 years of guitar-playing experience and more than 16 years teaching private guitar lessons to students of different ages, skill levels, and musical interests. My background includes live performance and touring in styles ranging from folk, indie, modern country, and metal, along with deeper study across players and traditions ranging from Bach to modern metal and R&B.
Highland Park Guitar Lessons began in 2011 as part of Top Shelf Drum Lessons in Dallas. I started teaching guitar to referrals there, and in 2012 my school became an independent business focused specifically on helping guitar students in Dallas and beyond get the tools they need to reach their goals. Today, we offer private guitar lessons in Dallas as well as online guitar lessons for students across the U.S. and other locations.
At its core, Highland Park Guitar Lessons is built around a few simple values:
- Personalized instruction instead of one-size-fits-all teaching
- Real progress through consistency
- Learning music you actually care about
- Strong fundamentals with practical application
- Professional, reliable teaching for serious students
We specialize in private one-on-one guitar lessons, both in person in our Dallas location and virtually, with instruction tailored for beginners, intermediate players, and advanced students. The studio is especially focused on helping students build real musicianship while still enjoying the process and learning songs and styles that keep them motivated.

The Process
Background & Goals
We begin by discussing your experience on the guitar, as well as what your goals are as a guitar player.
Build A Lesson Plan
We emphasize a structured, long-term lessons and consistent growth. Lessons are organized so that over time the student develops technical control, musical understanding, better timing and feel, confidence on the guitar, and the ability to play real music with more freedom and accuracy.
Music Selection
We strongly encourage students to bring music they actually enjoy. In practice, that means songs can be chosen not just because they are fun, but because they teach something useful, like chord vocabulary, rhythm accuracy, ear development, fretboard accuracy, and genre feel.
Consistent Practice
Highland Park Guitar Lessons combines high-level personal attention with a serious, progress-driven mentality. Practicing outside of class time is absolutely vital, and we make an effort to work with students who are committed players.
