Getting Started, Lets Play

What stringed instruments do you teach?

We specifically teach electric and acoustic guitar styles. Genre's we have experience in instructing include rock, metal, blues, fingerstyle acoustic and classical styles. We also specialize in music theory. Our students come in looking for everything from basic strumming to highly technical playing. We seek to develop and grow their passions for music as best as we possibly can.

What do I need for my guitar lesson?

Whether you’re taking online or in person private lessons, you’ll need to bring your guitar and any accessories, like a pick or strap. If you’re taking electric guitar lessons, we’ll have a cable and amp for you in-store, but you’ll need them for online lessons. You’ll also need a pencil and paper, music stand, curriculum/books and any music or guitar tabs you're learning or want to learn (digital or physical) and notebook. A metronome to keep time is also necessary, there are plenty of apps, we suggest Pro Metronome.

Does my guitar need to be in tune?

Your guitar needs  should be properly tuned so everything sounds as good as you're playing. If you aren't sure how to tune your guitar, we can assist you here.. A variety of tuners easily clip onto your guitar and are available on our website and in our stores. There are free apps, such as guitartuna.

How do online guitar lessons work?

We use zoom, skype and facetime as options for online lessons.

What kind of equipment do I need to take an online or virtual guitar lesson?

In addition to your guitar and accessories, and the necessary materials mentioned above, you'll need a computer or mobile device to connect to your online guitar lesson. Make sure your device also has a microphone, camera and stable internet connection.

Do you offer virtual guitar lessons through Facetime, Microsoft Teams and Zoom?

Yes, we do provide virtual guitar lessons through all those platforms (zoom, facetime, Microsoft teams) some of the apps provide the ability to record the lesson so student can review sections later for practice.

How much should I practice between guitar lessons?

This varies by age,  goals the student has set out to achieve and time. New students particularly beginners usually spend 15–30 min. No more than 45 mins in a sitting without breaks is advised. Stretching is very important before, during and after practicing. The more involved the playing is, the more preparedness and practice is required. Its very important that practicing guitar becomes as daily as possible.

What can I expect at my first virtual guitar lesson?

As a guitar instructor and one that strives to be a inspiring teacher I do my best to customizes in person or online guitar lessons to ensure you're learning what you like and having fun. Efficiently teaching guitar requires learning the pace at which the student learns and can manage. So typically we will start slowly, introduce new concepts each week. If you choose to learn guitar online, you'll get live, one-on-one instruction.  You can also take guitar lessons virtually from either your office or home, we provide virtual lessons acorss the United States. Cities we cover are New York, Los Angeles and much of California, the greater New England Area, Washington, Seattle, and native cities like Dallas and Austin. Our studio location is located near the fair grounds in Deep Ellum, as part of the north Dallas area.
