About Your Instructor
Guitar Lessons with Adam Frost
Adam Frost is the founder and lead instructor of Highland Park Guitar Lessons, with over 22 years of playing experience and more than 16 years of experience teaching private guitar lessons. His background includes live performance and touring across folk, indie, modern country, and metal.
Adam’s studio work includes producing an album with Jack Endino, the legendary producer behind Nirvana’s debut album, Bleach.
Adam’s teaching is built around personalized instruction, not a one-size-fits-all curriculum. Lessons focus on strong fundamentals and real musical progress, using songs you actually care about, whether you’re just starting out or working toward advanced playing.
Beginner to Advanced Lessons
Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time or you've been playing for years, lessons are structured around where you actually are, not a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
Beginner
You'll start with the fundamentals: chord shapes, strumming, picking technique, rhythm, and fretboard basics. The focus early on is building the right habits, because good fundamentals make everything come faster and easier.
Intermediate
At this stage, lessons open up. Barre chords, scales, lead guitar, improvisation, ear training, and music theory are all applied to real playing situations, not just exercises which is where things start to click.
Advanced
For serious players who want to go deeper. Phrasing, articulation, composition, fretboard mastery, speed and accuracy, all with a focus on developing your own voice on the instrument.

Do you offer lessons for beginners?
Yes. Beginners are welcome. We start with the fundamentals and build from there.
Do you teach online or in-person?
I only offer online lessons for those that are located outside of Dallas, TX.
How long are lessons?
Lessons are available in 30-minute, 45-minute, and 60-minute formats. Full hour sessions are recommended for students focused on long-term development.
What styles do you teach?
All styles. Lessons are built around the music you want to play — rock, blues, jazz, classical, fingerstyle, whatever it is.
Do I need my own guitar?
Yes. You'll need your own instrument to practice between lessons, which is where most of the real progress happens.

That's fine. A lot of students start from zero. The lesson plan is built around where you are, not where you think you should be.
